Transfer to the train station for the early morning departure
to Aguas Calientes and then a bus ride up to the timeless ruins
of Machu Picchu ruins. Upon arrival to the ruins, you will be
given a guided visit of Machu Picchu for about 2 hours. There
are many theories as to the origins of Machu Picchu but three
of the most popular ideas include a temple to the sun, a fortress
against the jungle inhabitants or a sanctuary for the Incas.
This beautiful city has houses, temples, warehouses, a large
central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps, and
is surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side which were
used for agriculture. After the tour, free time to enjoy this
magical and spiritual wonder. After the tour, you will have
a few hours to explore at your own pace before taking the afternoon
train back down to Cusco and your hotel. Hotel Garcilaso. www.hotelgarcilaso.com

island affords beautiful sightseeing of the local landscape
as well as the flora and fauna that they host. And, to top it
all off, there is that breathtaking jungle sunset.

Day
5: COCHA PERDIDA (LOST LAKE)
After breakfast, we set forth through the virgin jungle led
by the professional guide. Todays hike will take you to the
Cocha Perdida. This site effectively constitutes a unique protected
Ecosystem, refuge, and Feeding ground for the great diversity
of wildlife including the Otter, Turtles, Alligators, Tapir,
and Jaguar. There are also many birds with striking plumage
as well as an ample variety of species of fish.
This area is and distinctly particular to EcoAmazonia Reserve,
by virtue of having remained altogether unaltered, and conveniently
surrounded by lard swamps and wetlands. One of the highlights
of today’s tour is certainly the ascent to the Mirador
built atop the the greatest of treetops in the Amazon forest,
the revered Shihauhuaco from where a grand view of the great
and magical forest can be admired. This is complimented by a
pleasant canoe ride around the lake, after which we return to
the lodge and lunch.
In the course of the afternoon, optional visit to a local family,
the Botanical Gardens, and an eco-swimming pool are available
to the guests.

FOREST-CLOUD FOREST

& Gamitana Rivers begins. Both of these rivers originate
in the heart of the virgin jungle and their numerous meanders
and large winding channels form large navigable waterways.
We return aboard a canoe, closely observing along the way an
