2: CITY TOUR OF LIMA
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel for a city
tour of colonial and modern Lima, including the cathedral, dating
from 1654, the main square, which still houses the original
bronze fountain built in 1650, and the San Francisco Convent
and its catacombs. Lima was founded in 1535 by Pizarro and rebuilt
in 1991, the same year that UNESCO declared it a world heritage
site. Lima was home to the Spanish viceroy during the time of
the Spanish colonialists. The tour also includes a visit to
the residential areas of San Isidro and Miraflores, stopping
at Larco Mar to enjoy a view of the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

3: CARAL
Transfer from your hotel for a full day's guided visit to Caral,
the oldest civilization in the Americas. Dating back to over
3000BC, this earliest of settlements developed almost simultaneously
with the civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India and China.
There was also a Quipa found at this site which gives Peru possible
the second oldest known form of communication in the world.
In the evening, we will transfer you back to your hotel in Lima.

Afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight to Iquitos.

3: IQUITOS-CEIBA TOPS
Reception at the airport, brief city orientation and transfer
to the Explorama dock. Twenty-five mile journey down the Amazon
River to Ceiba Tops, where rooms with air conditioning and private
bathrooms provide the comforts of home in the rainforest. Afternoon
hike in the beautiful primary rainforest reserve surrounding
the lodge which includes many huge trees festooned with epiphytes.
After dinner there may be local flute or guitar music at the
El Toucan Bar or the guides are always ready to relate some

4: CEIBA TOPS
Morning boat ride, spotting for dolphins, to visit a small village
of Yagua Indians where your guide will explain the local Yagua
Indian culture and how it was affected by the arrival of Europeans
and the passing of time. There will also be an opportunity to
see some of the local crafts and for a demonstration of the
blowgun which some of the Yagua elders still use for hunting.
Afternoon walking excursion to the neighboring town of Indiana.
Originally a Franciscan mission, Indiana has grown into a large
river community with its own market, high school and small hospital.

5: CANOPY WALKWAY TOUR
Early morning transfer by boat to the beginning of your tour.
After breakfast, you will take a short walk to the start of
the Canopy Walkway. This is the longest of its kind in South
America. After lunch, you will return by boat to your lodge.

6: CEIBA TOPS-IQUITOS
Your choice of morning walking or boating excursion to further

7: CUSCO
Early transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima and then
on to Cusco. Reception and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon
guided city tour of the four ruins nearby; the Sacsayhuaman
Fortress overlooking the city of Cuzco, a pre Inca architectural
masterpiece; Kenko, a rock sanctuary whose main attraction is
the monolithic altar representing a puma, the red Fortress of
Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay, a beautiful fountain fed by a spring
forming a series of basins continue to the city of Cuzco; the
Main Square, the Cathedral and the Koricancha or Temple of the

8: SACRED VALLEY TOUR
After breakfast, we will pick you up for a full day tour of
the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the village of Pisac,
founded during colonial times and set at the foot of a hill
crowned by the remains of an Inca city. On Sundays, Tuesdays
and Thursdays, in the main square, Indians barter their products
and artisans from all over the area sell their woven alpaca
wool blankets and ponchos, engraved gourds, antique reproductions,
jewelry, etc. On Sundays it is also the meeting place for mayors
from all the villages in the region, dressed in their traditional
costumes to attend morning mass. After lunch, we will visit
Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town which was not overthrown by
the conquistadores, and explore the ruins which tower above
it. Our last stop is the small town of Chinchero and there unique

9: MACHU PICCHU
Transfer to the train station for the early morning departure
to Aguas Calientes and then a bus ride up to the timeless ruins
of Machu Picchu ruins. Upon arrival to the ruins, you will be
given a guided visit of Machu Picchu for about 2 hours. There
are many theories as to the origins of Machu Picchu but three
of the most popular ideas include a temple to the sun, a fortress
against the jungle inhabitants or a sanctuary for the Incas.
This beautiful city has houses, temples, warehouses, a large
central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps, and
is surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side which were
used for agriculture. After the tour, free time to enjoy this
magical and spiritual wonder. After the tour, you will have
a few hours to explore at your own pace before taking the afternoon

10: AGUAS CALIENTES-CUSCO
Free day in Aguas Calientes to return to Machu Picchu, relax
in the hot springs, or take the short hike to the private waterfall

11: CUSCO-JULIACA-PUNO
After breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport for your
flight to Juliaca. We will then transfer you to Puno and your

12: PUNO-LAKE TITICACA
Early transfer to the port for the boat journey on Lake Titicaca
to the floating islands of Uros. Made entirely of reeds and
inhabited by the Aymara Uros people. They live in huts built
on platforms of reeds, not more than 1 foot thick. Short walk
on the islands, then the boat trip continues as far as the island
of Taquile. Members of this self supporting Aymara community
receive visitors in their colourful national costume and show
them around the island. Taquile is renowned for its fine, decorative

13: PUNO-JULIACA-LIMA
After breakfast. Transfer to Juliaca airport for the return
flight to Lima. Along the way, an excursion will be made to
the pre-inca Sillustani funeral towers next to the Umayo lake.
The towers form part of one of the largest and most important
necropolis in the world. Used by both the Altiplano civilization
and the Incas and their wives "Collas" to honor their
dead and in preparation for the after-life. It was abandoned
when the first Spanish arrived. With over ninety Chulpas (tombs),
all built from volcanic rock, those for the Incas can be easily
recognized by their finer detail.
